Pender Harbour

The entrance to Pender seemed like a maze. Paul navigated our way thru lots of small islands and narrow cuts. We decided to anchor in “Garden Bay” as this was the closest point to the postal office in the village. When we arrived at our site we were surprised to see the Pacific Seacraft vessel “Thor” whom we met in Nanaimo. We visited a bit to compare notes on past adventure and future plans. I suspect we will see them again through out the summer.

We FINALLY were able to pick up our mail. The parcel had been sent from Seattle several weeks ago by our mail service in Fremont (UPS Store). It missed us by several days at Thetis Island, was subsequently forwarded by the post mistress Gwen at Thetis (free of charge) to Pender Harbor. Pender had just received the package today! Whew!!! Now we have several episodes of Mad Men to view in the evenings when we can stay awake past dinner. Anyway, the important thing is that the general delivery mail system is alive and well here in Canada.

We went to the local pub this evening to watch the Canuks play Boston. Final score 8 - 1 Boston.  It was painful to watch, but the burgers and beer were good. Tomorrow we head to the grocery store to restock fresh items for our next leg. Paul has picked up a crab trap and will hopefully start supplying us with this delicacy. Bill has given me the inside scoop on what to use as bait….I am going to have some meat options in the freezer just in case.

You would have had to been there.

Paul motoring to Madiera Park for Lattes - look at that
determined face.

Cool single float plane.

Janet at park where we had lunch.
